The problem probably originates from the metal tab on the strike plate being bent away from the door.
Then secure the door stop with 1 1 4 in.
Place the door stop back in its old position on the doorjamb and hammer it in with several nails.
Screw the strike plate back in place check the door and adjust if needed.
Close the door and hold a block of wood against the doorstop.
Tighten one adjustable wrench onto the curved latch side of the plate to hold it while you bend the tang.
